RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - Officials say a 3-year-old girl found dead in the bathtub inside her Raleigh apartment last spring did not drown.

State pathologists said in an autopsy released to media Wednesday there no fluid in the stomach or sinuses of Skye McLeod, indicating she most likely did not drown.

The girl’s death has been ruled undetermined, although the medical examiner says she most likely suffered a natural death, such as heart arrhythmia or a seizure, that cannot be diagnosed through autopsy.

Skye was found unresponsive on March 20 after she and her younger sibling were briefly left alone in the bathtub at their home.

A family friend said the mother’s boyfriend was babysitting at the time. The child was pronounced dead after paramedics could not revive her, and no charges were filed.
