DIAMONDHEAD, Miss. (AP) - The Diamondhead City Council has hired a new city manager.

Clovis Reed tells The Sun Herald (https://bit.ly/1qY1tXR ) he saw a job posting in his local newspaper for the Diamondhead city manager position, applied, and on Tuesday evening he was unanimously selected by the city council.

Reed received a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Mississippi and has spent his career as an administrator for Simpson, Claiborne, DeSoto and Rankin counties. He also spent time as the assistant director of Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality.

Reed officially begins Sept. 2. He replaces Richard Rose, who was suspended in April after the council brought 10 allegations against him that included bad management, excessive absences from City Hall and ineffectiveness.
