LIVINGSTON, La. (AP) - A group of residents has collected enough signatures on a petition to put the proposed incorporation of Satsuma to a vote.

The Livingston Parish Registrar of Voters verified earlier this week more than enough signatures on the petition. The group needed to collect 256 signatures of the 1,023 registered voters in the area for its effort to incorporate and fight moves to commercialize the community.

Lynette Taylor says she’s for progress but wants contractors to respect residents’ opinions. She hopes the incorporation move will give residents more clout and standing and make contractors more accountable.

WBRZ-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1mmZZif ) the vote is expected to be on the Dec. 6 ballot.
