SENECA FALLS, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say a freak accident at a major New York farm show has critically injured an 8-year-old boy who was watching a farm-equipment demonstration.

The Post-Standard (https://bit.ly/1sovYm7 ) of Syracuse says it happened as a vendor displayed a cow hoof trimming machine Thursday afternoon at the Empire Farm Days event in Seneca Falls.

The newspaper says according to the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office , the 8-year-old had gotten under the machine, and it was accidentally lowered into him. His name hasn’t been released.

The boy is in critical condition at a Syracuse hospital with head injuries.

Empire Farm Days ended Thursday, and organizers couldn’t immediately be reached by phone Thursday evening. It’s billed as the Northeast’s largest agricultural trade show, drawing more than 65,000 people over its three days.
