GORHAM, Maine (AP) - Authorities say lightning strikes during severe storms in southern Maine Wednesday injured a woman in Gorham, sparked fires in South Berwick and damaged trees in several towns.

Christine Poore of Gorham says she was standing in front of her bathroom mirror when lightning struck her home, sparks came through a light fixture and she felt a jolt of electricity go through her body. She went to a hospital to get checked out. She says she suffered only some blisters on her feet.

Officials in South Berwick believe lightning strikes caused two fires Wednesday night. A garage and barn were heavily damaged, but no injuries were reported.

Downed and damaged trees also were reported in several towns.
