LINCOLNTON, N.C. (AP) - Detectives with the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office say someone has been stealing batteries from a variety of vehicles in the western part of the county.

A statement from the sheriff’s office says the thefts have occurred from July 25 through Aug. 3. The statement said someone stole the battery from a bus belonging to Mount Vernon Baptist Church while the bus was still in the parking lot.

Last weekend, deputies took a report of two truck batteries and batteries from two farm tractors stolen from one location, and seven batteries stolen from two trucks at another location.
