LIGNITE, N.D. (AP) - Inspectors with North Dakota’s Health Department are monitoring cleanup of a saltwater and oil spill in Burke County.

Health officials say about 100 barrels of saltwater and an undetermined amount of oil spilled into a slough about three miles northwest of Lignite. A barrel holds 42 gallons.

The Health Department says the spill came from a line feeding three injection wells.

Colorado-based Taqa North USA Inc. has an environmental consultant on site evaluating the spill and planning a response, which the Health Department says will include removing saltwater and oil from the slough.
