VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (AP) - Virginia Beach health officials have lifted a swimming advisory that was issued for the southern end of the Sandbridge.

The advisory was issued Wednesday by the Virginia Beach Department of Public Health. It covered the area from Sea Scape Road to Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge.

Testing had shown that bacteria levels in the water exceeded state water quality standards. On Thursday, officials said lab results showed bacteria levels in the water met state standards again.

Signs posted on the beach warning that swimming and wading in the area is prohibited are being removed.
