THIBODAUX, La. (AP) - The Thibodaux Planning and Zoning Commission has approved zoning maps and changes to the city’s zoning ordinance, sending them to the city council for ratification.

Ryan Perque, executive assistant to Mayor Tommy Eschete and administrative point-man on the project, tells The Courier (https://bit.ly/1skYViJ ) the maps and regulations will be before the city council at its Sept. 2 meeting and voted on Sept. 16.

Planning and Zoning Commission Chairman Clay Breaud said he’s happy to see the nearly three-year process move on to the council.

The proposed zoning legislation would create three new zones: mixed use, central business district and campus.

Several city council members that attended Wednesday’s meeting said they expect the proposed regulations to pass.
