VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (AP) - The Navy’s Coastal Riverine Group Two is undergoing a change of command.

Capt. Michael Sparks will assume command from Capt. Eric Diehl during a ceremony on Friday at Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story in Virginia Beach. The Coastal Riverine Force operates in harbors, rivers, bays and ashore.

Sparks is taking over the post following an assignment as the deputy commander of the group.

Diehl’s next job will be to serve as the principal adviser to the Navy’s Seventh Fleet commander for expeditionary operations. Diehl will be based in Guam.

Coastal Riverine Group Two is based in Portsmouth.
