LOS ANGELES (AP) - A man has been arrested on suspicion of child endangerment after his 6-year-old son found abandoned at Whittier Narrows Regional Park earlier this week.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department says 31-year-old Juan Garcia of Pomona was arrested Thursday.

Authorities were called by a good Samaritan who found the boy crying and looking for his father Monday night at the South El Monte park. The child, who was cold and hungry, was fed and placed in a patrol car while deputies searched for his father.

Investigators found a vehicle with a flat tire that they believed belonged to Garcia but they couldn’t find him.

The boy’s mother was eventually located and she took custody of the boy.

Garcia is being held on $100,000 bail. He is expected to be arraigned Monday.
