DENVILLE, N.J. (AP) - Friends and associates say retired Morris County Clerk Joan Bramhall and her husband were found dead in their home.

Police were called to the home in Denville after a report that a body was found Thursday morning. Officers subsequently found the body of a second person.

County Prosecutor Fredric Knapp has not released their names, but said there was no indication there was any threat to the community. The cause of death was not released.

Friends and colleagues told the Daily Record of Parsippany (https://dailyre.co/1sqUJhs ) they were at a loss to explain what happened.

Bramhall was 74 and retired in December after serving 15 years as county clerk. Friends say she had been treated for cancer several years ago.

Morris Plains Mayor Frank Druetzler says he’s at a loss.
