READING, Pa. (AP) A Reading man faces several charges after police say he cooked up and then injected himself with heroin inside a pharmacy last week.

The Reading Eagle reported Tuesday (https://bit.ly/1AS3E1h ) that 38-year-old James Roberts sat down in a chair and told store employees to call police because he wasn’t going to pay for the syringe or a bottle of water.

Police say employees and customers watched him shoot up on Friday afternoon inside the Rite Aid store on Penn Street in Reading.

He’s charged with drug possession, retail theft and disorderly conduct.

His online court record indicates Roberts is seeking a public defender. He’s in jail with bond set at $20,000.
