ROCK HILL, S.C. (AP) - One of South Carolina’s largest municipal police forces is inviting people to sit down and have a cup of coffee with their officers.

Rock Hill police are the latest to start a “coffee with a cop” program. Police officers will be at the Burger King on Saluda Road starting at 8 a.m. Friday.

The idea is to let police officers build relationships with the community in settings that aren’t stressful, like an emergency. Charleston, Orangeburg and Conway all have similar programs, and the initiative has spread to cities in 36 states,

The police department says people can ask officers anything they want.
