TUKWILA, Wash. (AP) - Seattle Sounders defender DeAndre Yedlin is in Europe meeting with a team about a possible transfer, according to general manager Adrian Hanauer.

Yedlin was absent from Seattle’s practice Friday. Hanauer said Yedlin was having meeting in Europe.

ESPN reported during the MLS all-star game earlier this week that Tottenham Hotspur of the Premier League had emerged as a possible destination for Yedlin, but Hanauer would not confirm who the meeting was with.

Hanauer insisted that if any deal was struck, Yedlin would remain with the Sounders through this season. Yedlin is expected back in time for Seattle’s game Sunday night against Houston.

The 21-year-old Yedlin has seen international interest in him skyrocket since his performance for the United States at the World Cup. He’s been linked with a number of European clubs since his return from Brazil and Tottenham was recently in Seattle for an exhibition against the Sounders.
