NEW YORK (AP) - Witnesses say an out-of-control SUV narrowly missed a man on the sidewalk before it slammed into a storefront beauty shop in Jamaica, Queens.

The Daily News (https://nydn.us/1sjBjP6 ) says the car plowed 25 feet into the building before finally stopping late Thursday.

The crash wrecked the Charo and Friends Beauty Salon. The driver was treated for minor injuries.

Police told the building owner, Calvin Joseph, that the driver bought gas across the street and then apparently mistook the accelerator for the brake pedal.

Surveillance footage from a deli shows the black SUV flying into the salon.
