BANGOR, Maine (AP) - Severe weather has knocked out power to more than 2,000 utility customers in Penobscot County.

Emera Maine said Friday that 2,085 homes and businesses in Penobscot County lost service. A handful of outages are being reported in Hancock and Northern Penobscot/Piscataquis Counties.

The utility says that crews are responding to the scattered outages, caused by heavy rain and lightning, as quickly and safely as possible.
