REDWOOD CITY, Calif. (AP) - Prosecutors in Northern California say a parolee, nicknamed the “Chrome Revolver Bandit,” has been sentenced to more than 800 years in prison.

San Mateo County District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe says Ricky Renee Sanders received the life sentence on Friday following his conviction in February on 44 separate felony charges including armed robbery, being a felon in possession of a firearm, assault with a firearm and mayhem.

Prosecutors say the 36-year-old Sanders went on a robbery spree at several stores across San Francisco, San Mateo and Santa Clara counties in 2011 armed with a large shiny silver handgun that earned him his nickname.

During one of his robberies Sanders allegedly shot a pet store manager in the leg. He was arrested after robbing a store in San Jose in November, 2011.
