COLEBROOK, N.H. (AP) - An electronic cigarette company in Quebec is expanding its operations to Colebrook, New Hampshire.

Vaporium Inc. plans to open at the end of the month in 7,500-square-feet of manufacturing space at the Colebrook Industrial Park. It plans to hire at least 10 workers by early 2015.

Sylvain Longpre, president of Vaporium, said he chose Colebrook because it’s business friendly and close to his office in Sherbrooke, Quebec. He said New Hampshire has low taxes and available labor.

Michael Bergeron, business development manager for the New Hampshire Division of Economic Development, said the company worked with local and state officials for about a year.

Over the past several years, the division, joined by North Country officials, has hosted dinners for Canadian companies to introduce them to the benefits of doing business in New Hampshire.

“This is a case where our business recruitment efforts have paid off,” Bergeron said. “The Vaporium folks were referred to us by a company that attended one of the dinners we hosted a couple of years ago and thought Colebrook would be a good fit for its plan to expand into the U.S. market.”
