CLINTON, Utah (AP) - An order to boil water has been lifted for much of the northern Utah town of Clinton after an E. coli scare.

City officials say only residents of the northwest quadrant of the city were still being urged to use bottled water Saturday afternoon.

The advisory was lifted Friday and earlier Saturday for other parts of the city after favorable test results of the water supply.

Davis County and state health officials are assisting the city in sampling and testing the water.

The city announced water samples tested positive for the bacteria on Wednesday.

The city supply may have been contaminated when a resident connected irrigation water with the drinking water system.

That has been disconnected and city officials have worked to disinfect the water supply with chlorine.
