WEBSTER, Fla. (AP) - The Florida Highway Patrol says two people died in a crash on U.S. 301 in central Florida.

The crash happened early Monday after a vehicle crossed the centerline and crashed into another vehicle. The driver of the second vehicle died at the scene.

Troopers say a passenger in the backseat of the car that crossed the center line was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tampa and later pronounced dead. The driver and another passenger were taken to hospitals in critical condition.

The names of the dead were not released.

Troopers do not believe alcohol was a factor.
