PINETOPS, N.C. (AP) - Four people have died and a fifth person was hurt in a wreck in Edgecombe County.

North Carolina Highway Patrol Sgt. E.R. Yarborough told local media outlets that the wreck happened shortly before noon Sunday near Pinetops.

Troopers say a car crossed the center line of the road and hit another car head-on.

Troopers say two adults, a 2-year-old, and a 14-year-old died in the wreck. One person was taken to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville. There’s no word on his condition.

The names of the victims have not been released.
