GAY COUPLE SUE DMV OVER DRIVER’S LICENSE NAMES

A gay couple has sued Florida’s motor vehicle agency for revoking drivers’ licenses they said they received by showing their marriage license from New York, the latest challenge to Florida’s ban on same-sex unions. Daniel DeSousa and Scott Wall married in New York last year and legally changed their last name to Wall-DeSousa through the federal Social Security Administration. Daniel changed his driver’s license in Brevard County, but when Scott tried there, he was told that his marriage certificate wasn’t a legal document in Florida. Scott later succeeded in changing his license in Orange County.

WOMAN ACCUSED OF USING STUN GUN ON BOY

A woman faces a felony child abuse charges after police in St. Petersburg say she used a stun gun on her 3-year-old nephew. Police say 30-year-old Ramona Braswell was arrested Saturday at a home in St. Petersburg. The boy’s mother was in another room when she heard her son cry. She found her sister laughing and activating the stun gun, but not touching the child. Police say the boy told his mom his aunt had used it on his arm.

DOG QUARANTINED AFTER BITING BOY

A woman hit her dog multiple times with a shovel to get it away from her 4-year-old grandson. Pasco County Sheriff’s officials say the Rottweiler mix bit the boy Sunday afternoon at the home in Port Richey. The child was flown to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tampa with serious injuries. The dog is on a rabies quarantine for 10 days.

2 DEAD, 2 INJURED IN EARLY MORNING CAR CRASH

The Florida Highway Patrol says two people died in a crash on U.S. 301 in central Florida. The crash happened early Monday after a vehicle crossed the centerline and crashed into another vehicle. The driver of the second vehicle died at the scene. Troopers say a passenger in the backseat of the car that crossed the center line was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tampa and later pronounced dead. The driver and another passenger were taken to hospitals in critical condition.

REVOLVER IN PANTS SHOOTS FLORIDA MAN

A central Florida man is recovering after a revolver in his pocket accidentally discharged and struck him in the leg. The Polk County Sheriff’s Office says the man was working at the Lakeland Farmer’s Market on Sunday afternoon when the accident happened.
