MARIETTA, Ga. (AP) - Cobb County prosecutors say a man has been given four life sentences plus 60 years on charges including rape, child molestation and aggravated sexual battery.

District Attorney’s spokeswoman Kim Isaza said in an emailed statement Monday that 52-year-old Robert Ray Whipkey sexually assaulted two teenage girls and was sentenced after a trial that lasted nearly two weeks.

Isaza says the victims testified that they were at a house party Oct. 8, 2013 and left with Whipkey to go to a grocery store. Prosecutors say instead of returning to the party, Whipkey took the girls to his home and sexually assaulted them.

Isaza says jurors listened to an audio recording of Whipkey’s son confronting his father about the attack. Isaza says Whipkey admitted to the assaults while he was being recorded.
