SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - The U.S. Coast Guard in San Francisco says it found and escorted a sailboat that was disabled and adrift 40 miles offshore.

The Coast Guard said Sunday that the 45-foot vessel had its lines and sails tangled in its propeller during the weekend storm that soaked Northern California.

After receiving reports of the disabled boat, the Coast Guard issued an alert and a Coast Guard cutter from Santa Cruz located it about 56 miles southwest of Monterey.

The crew was able to untangle the fouled propeller and shaft just before the cutter arrived, and it’s returning to Moss Landing in the Monterey Bay under Coast Guard escort.

No injuries were reported.
