FAIR HAVEN, N.J. (AP) - Police say a councilman in the Monmouth County community of Fair Haven has died after he collided with a car while riding his bicycle three blocks from his home.

Jerome Koch was 63 years old.

The accident occurred Saturday afternoon on River Road and Koch died on Sunday night at a hospital.

Mayor Benjamin Lucarelli tells the Asbury Park Press (https://on.app.com/1y9T4TR ) Koch was on the council for seven years and his family was visiting during the Thanksgiving holiday for the christening of his new grandchild.

No charges have been filed and police are investigating the accident.
