HONOLULU (AP) - A search Sunday off Kailua-Kona failed to find a 67-year-old missing fisherman.

KHON-TV (https://bit.ly/1z9gZzW) reports Ron Ingraham on Thursday morning issued an emergency radio call saying his 25-foot boat, the Malia, was taking on water in the middle of Alinui Channel about 46 miles southwest of Kailua-Kona.

He said he was in danger of sinking.

The Coast Guard says Ingraham may have been sailing alone from Kauanakai Harbor to Manele Bay on Lanai.

A search by air has covered more than 7,000 square miles. The Coast Guard also deployed a tracking buoy to figure out where Ingraham may have drifted.

Ingraham’s friends say he travels with safety equipment and likely had a kayak on board.

The Coast Guard searched Sunday in winds of 35 mph and 8- to 15-foot seas.
