CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - Hundreds of needy people lined up in Charleston to get free gift cards to purchase food.

The cards, good for $60 worth of food at Bi-Lo, were being given away Monday at the Star Gospel Mission in downtown Charleston.

Local media outlets report the lines for the free gift cards wrapped around the building, down the street and around a corner.

The cards were being given to anyone 30 and older who had valid identification and a social security card. The money for the cards came from the Good Cheer Fund of The Post and Courier of Charleston.
