LAS VEGAS (AP) - Interviews are set this week for 36 applicants for three Nevada Court of Appeals positions created by the passage of Question 1 on the Nov. 4 ballot.

Appeals court hopefuls have filled out detailed applications and undergone background checks.

One-by-one they’ll answer questions from the Nevada Commission on Judicial Selection, in hopes of being recommended to Gov. Brian Sandoval on Thursday for final selection.

Interviews are being held at the state Supreme Court courtroom at the Clark County Regional Justice Center in downtown Las Vegas, and video conferenced to the Supreme Court in Carson City and a room at the Washoe County courthouse in Reno.

Sandoval is expected to make appointments by the end of the year.

Appointees can run in November 2016 for election to a six-year term.
