RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - Authorities in Wake County say a man who fired shots at sheriff’s deputies during a stolen-car chase is in custody.

Multiple media outlets report 18-year-old Alexander Oregon Gallardo was wanted on charges of possession of a stolen vehicle and attempted murder after deputies chased him Sunday. The Wake County Sheriff’s Office said Monday that Gallardo was found in a vehicle that was stopped by sheriff’s deputies and was arrested without incident.

Investigators say a bullet struck the radar equipment on the dashboard of one deputy’s cruiser. The deputy was not hurt.

Records on Gallardo’s status weren’t available from the sheriff’s office on Monday.
