FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) - The murder trial of a former University of Arkansas football player has begun.

Thirty-three-year-old Josh Melton is charged in Washington County with second-degree murder in the August 2013 beating death of 30-year-old Michael Gover.

The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reports (https://bit.ly/1rOvFjB ) that jury selection is underway.

Melton’s first trial in July ended in mistrial.

Gover was found dead in Melton’s home after a night in which Melton said the two had been drinking and that he didn’t remember anything after taking a shot of rum after they arrived at the home.

Melton was an offensive lineman for the Razorbacks from 1999 to 2002.
