SOMERTON, Ariz. (AP) - The pilot of a crop duster that crashed in an open field near Somerton and burst into flames has been identified.

The Yuma County Sheriff’s Office says 55-year-old Michael Alan Kratz of North Dakota died Sunday. Authorities said the small aircraft had no chemicals on board at the time.

The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the crash.
