OTTUMWA, Iowa (AP) - Authorities say a concession stand at a high school football stadium in southeast Iowa was purposely set on fire.

Bill Trout with the Ottumwa Fire Department says the concession stand at Schafer Stadium was “definitely set” because it was vandalized prior to the fire Sunday morning.

Trout says the suspect or suspects dug through a wall to enter the wooden structure. Bottles and bags were tossed out on top of the stadium bleachers, among other things. Authorities say foul language against Ottumwa was scrawled on the door of the concession stand.

The Ottumwa Courier reports (https://bit.ly/1zILXPn ) the fire was extinguished but the concession stand was destroyed. The stadium, which serves Ottumwa High School, was not damaged.

Authorities are asking the public for help in gathering information about the fire.
