COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - A 14-year-old central Ohio girl shot in the head last week on the front porch of her home has died, and a 16-year-old boy has been charged with pulling the trigger.

Columbus police say Destinee Booker was found on her porch Friday morning with a gunshot wound to the head. She underwent emergency surgery but died Sunday at a hospital.

On Monday the boy being sought was taken to police headquarters by his mother and charged in the girl’s slaying. Officers found a gun about a block from the shooting scene on the city’s south side.

Police have released no other details about the shooting.
