ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - Utility officials say a power outage in midtown Anchorage affected 3,400 customers before power was restored.

Municipal Light & Power says it appears animal contact was a factor in the outage that began about 12:30 p.m. Sunday.

ML&P; officials say crews were able to transfer the power load to other parts of the system after a problem at a substation was identified.

Crews began restoring power at 2 p.m. Sunday.
