RALIEGH, N.C. (AP) - Wake County’s school board is considering new rules that could ban students from taking pictures of themselves and others in school.

The News & Observer of Raleigh reported (https://bit.ly/1Cybh08) that new rules for the school’s technology policy would prevent students from taking pictures or videos with any device unless directed to do so by a teacher.

The updated section on inappropriate use of technology warns against producing, posting and sending inappropriate or offensive material.

Several school board members question how such a ban could be enforced.

Board member Monika Johnson-Hostler said the schools must be clear and cautious about what is said about using personal devices.

School administrators say they will talk with the school board attorney to see if revisions are needed in the policy, last updated in 2010.
