SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - San Francisco police say they arrested four and cited 75 others during a Black Friday protest that turned violent.

San Francisco Police Chief Greg Suhr said Monday that five officers required medical treatment. One officer required four stitches after being struck by an empty tequila bottle.

The unrest occurred Friday night in San Francisco’s downtown shopping district. Several stores sustained damage.

Many of the demonstrators had gathered to protest the police shooting in Ferguson, Missouri. Suhr said at a press conference Monday that most of those arrested and cited were from outside the area.

One of those arrested has been charged with assaulting an officer. Another was charged with possession of stolen property and two others were detained because of warrants. None of the suspects have been identified.
