SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - Sioux Falls is on track to break last year’s record for building construction.

City officials say they issued building permits totaling nearly $659 million through the end of November. That’s $8 million more than the same time a year ago.

The city has approved 1,610 new housing units, compared with 1,927 for the same time in 2013. Permits have totaled $117 million for residential additions and remodeling, which includes roofing.

Sioux Falls saw a record $588.2 million in building projects last year.
