ATLANTA (AP) - Georgia Secretary of State Brian Kemp has called a special election to fill the District 120 seat in the Georgia House of Representatives.

Kemp said in a release Monday that the district’s special election is set for Jan. 6 and a run off will be held on Feb. 3, if necessary.

Kemp says District 120 of the state House covers Greene, Oglethorpe, Putnam, Taliaferro and Wilkes Counties in eastern Georgia.

The qualifying period for the special election runs from Dec. 8 to 10 in the Elections Division of the Secretary of State’s office in Atlanta.

Kemp says voters looking to participate in the special election must register before Dec. 8. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Jan. 6.
