PLAIN CITY, Utah (AP) - A high school in northern Utah was put on lockdown Monday after a student was found inside with a loaded handgun.

The Weber County Sheriff’s Office says that no shots were fired and nobody was hurt.

The agency says a student reported seeing another student with a gun inside Fremont High School in Plain City, Utah at about 12:15 p.m. The student was detained by a school resource officer.

Investigators don’t what the student planned on doing with the gun. He is in police custody as they investigate the incident.

The school was evacuated so officers could search the classrooms.

Plain City has a population of about 6,000 and is 45 miles north of Salt Lake City.
