TUCKER, Ga. (AP) - Police say a man arrested in a woman’s shooting death at a suburban Atlanta bus stop is suspected in three sexual assaults.

DeKalb County police on Monday identified 18-year-old Christopher Merritt of Lithonia as the suspect in the death of 19-year-old Marcaysia Dawkins, who was shot Nov. 23 while she waited for a bus. Dawkins was born in Pennsylvania and her funeral was scheduled for Monday.

Interim DeKalb County Police Chief James Conroy tells the Atlanta Journal-Constitution it’s unclear whether Merritt knew Dawkins. Assistant Chief Mike Yarbrough says video surveillance evidence helped identify Merritt as a suspect.

Authorities say Merritt is facing several charges including murder in Dawkins’ case and rape, aggravated assault, false imprisonment and more in the sexual assault cases. It’s unclear if he has an attorney.
