NATCHITOCHES, La. (AP) - Willis-Knighton Health System has announced endowments for Northwestern State University’s programs in nursing and allied health.

Willis-Knighton will provide $30,000 per year for eight pre-licensure undergraduate nursing and two pre-licensure undergraduate radiologic science students on the Shreveport campus.

Officials say in a news release that each year $10,000 will be awarded - 10 scholarships of $1,000 each - and $20,000 will be endowed until such time that interest accrues to increase the number of scholarships available each year.

Students must have successfully completed one semester of clinical courses within the undergraduate nursing or radiologic science curriculum and be committed to work in the Shreveport-Bossier area following graduation.

Willis-Knighton has endowed eight professorships at Northwestern State over the years.
