CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - The West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection will kick off its Energy Tree light display this week.

The 35-foot display will have more than 800 LED bulbs. It will be draped on a side of the DEP’s headquarters in Charleston.

The display will be lit Thursday. The event will include a hand crank that allows the public to provide power to light the tree display and a traditional 100-bulb incandescent tree.

The DEP says the display will be available for viewing from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. every evening through Jan. 9.
