EUGENE, Ore. (AP) - The University of Oregon wants to build a $45 million residence hall on campus.

Adding the 500 beds would allow the renovation of Bean, Hamilton and Walton halls, a total of 2,100 beds.

The Register-Guard reports (https://bit.ly/1Afl9q9 ) a Board of Trustees committee is considering the proposal Wednesday with the matter going before the full board at Thursday’s meeting.

Despite all the private student housing that’s sprung up around campus in recent years, administrators say on-campus housing gives students more than just a place to live.
