FAIRFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - Authorities say the body of a missing 74-year-old man has been found in a rural Shiawassee County field.

WNEM-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1wxwiFy ) Thomas Nethaway had been missing since Monday and search crews found his body roughly 100 yards from a road in Fairfield Township, about 75 miles northwest of Detroit.

Sheriff’s Lt. David Kirk says it’s “a sad ending” to the case. He says investigators believe that Nethaway may have driven off the road onto a two-track road and then got out of his vehicle. Searchers tracked a signal from Nethaway’s cellphone to the area.

Kirk says Nethaway had dementia and other health issues. Cause of death is under investigation. Foul play isn’t suspected.
