BURLINGTON, Iowa (AP) - Authorities in Burlington are asking the public for help in collecting police memorabilia for a new museum.

The Burlington Police Department says the museum at the police station will detail the 175-year-old history of the department. Officials are looking for photographs, equipment and information about former officers and staff.

Officer Mike Bloomer says the idea for a museum was partially inspired by the Burlington Fire Department’s museum.

The Hawk Eye reports (https://bit.ly/1w9Ykoy ) officials want to rotate exhibits in the lobby every six months to a year. They want to start with an exhibit honoring two officers killed in the line of duty.
