BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) - Most of the bus service in Vermont’s largest county has been suspended due to the winter storm.

Chittenden County Transportation Authority said Wednesday shortly before 6 p.m. that all bus service except the Montpelier LINK was suspended until further notice.

The two-day storm has dumped more than a foot of heavy, wet snow in parts of Vermont, causing treacherous travel and toppling trees onto roads and power lines, leaving thousands without electricity.

Just as roads became clear of slush and ice Wednesday afternoon, rain turned to sleet and snow across the state, making roads slick again.
