CONWAY, S.C. (AP) - Police facilities in Conway are under one roof for the first time.

Area media outlets report that the city’s $5 million public safety building is open nearly a year after construction began. Police and the fire department workers began moving into the building last month and are still unpacking.

The building in the city about 15 miles northwest of Myrtle Beach puts all police operations in one place along with the fire administration and the city’s Fire Station No. 1.

The building also houses the city’s emergency operations center that will be activated during disasters such as hurricanes.
