LAGUNA BEACH, Calif. (AP) - A retired financial manager and his wife have donated $10 million to an Orange County medical center.

Mission Hospital Laguna Beach says it will use the money from Bill and Sue Gross to make comprehensive improvements in its emergency room.

The Orange County Register reports (https://bit.ly/1Gd4l7c) the gift was announced Tuesday.

The couple, who live in Laguna Beach, said they wanted to help the hospital in their hometown.

The upgraded facility will be named the Sue and Bill Gross Emergency Department.

Bill Gross is the co-founder of Pimco, a Newport Beach-based investment company that he left in September.

He and his wife have made major donations to hospitals and other causes in Orange County, and elsewhere, in the past.
