FARGO, N.D. (AP) - Fargo’s newly formed arts and culture commission wants to honor the city’s late mayor as one of its first orders of business.

City commissioners recently approved the formation of the nine-member arts group. It is holding its inaugural meeting next month.

City commissioner Melissa Sobolik says it would be fitting for the group to remember Dennis Walaker with a work of art.

Sobolik tells KFGO radio she has received many suggestions.

Walaker, who earlier this year won his bid for a third term in office, died last week after a months-long battle with kidney cancer. He was 73.
